A representative from PA Career Link will be at our library on Monday, July 27, 1-3PM. He can provide resources and help for job hunters.

Amanda Owen, filmmaker and Executive Director of the Justice Bell Foundation, speaks at our library about the Justice Bell and its journey across Pennsylvania as women fought for the right to vote. Ms. Owen is author of "The Justice Bell: Tracing the Journey of a Forgotten Symbol."

On Thursday, September 24, at 7PM, we will be discussing the book "Run Rose Run" by Dolly Parton and James Patterson. (The book was slected months ago, but is almost too timely given Dolly's recent passing.)

The story follows a gifted singer-songwriter running from a troubled background in Texas, who travels to Nashville with her guitar and a secret-filled backpack, desparate to become a country music superstar. But ghosts of her past are threatening to follow her, so she'll have to keep moving a hide who she really is.

Do you love LEGOs? Do you enjoy creating things with those popular little blocks? If you are an elementary-age youth (grades K-5) who likes to build with LEGOs, this is the club for you! Join us on any Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. for a session of LEGO construction!

Are you a writer, or aspiring writer? Join our writers' group, Pen & Prose! Whether you write short stories, essays, poetry, or are trying to write the Great American Novel, get constructive feedback on your work in a safe, friendly environment. New to the group? Bring a sample of your writing, if you have one to share, for the group to discuss at the first meeting you attend. (No more than ten pages double-spaced, please!) We typically meet the 2nd Thursday of the month at 5PM.

THE JUSTICE BELL FOUNDATION’S MISSION:
Founded in 2016, the Justice Bell Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to educate, inspire, and mobilize current and future voters. With school programs, a film on the women’s suffrage movement, a book about the Justice Bell's journey, and a traveling replica of the Justice Bell, the foundation seeks to highlight women's contributions to the fight for voting rights, encourage civic engagement, and honor the Justice Bell and its historic role in the American struggle for women’s suffrage and equal rights

NOTE DATE CHANGE:
George Menser II, former publisher of "The New Republic," and Shirley (Basehore) Vought, daughter of Meyersdale Printing and Publishing owner Herman Basehore, present a program about the history of the community newspaper that covered Meyersdale area events for so many years.

Dennis "Butch" Stahl discusses the Monongahela People, the original indigenous inhabitants of our area.

Do you enjoy looking through old photos, sharing memories, and preserving local history? The Way We Were Club may be for you! The library now has thousands of photos and negatives, covering a multitude of subjects, we're received from Meyersdale's former New Republic newspaper. If you like technology, we can even show you how to scan photos for digital preservation! There is no set schedule for the club. It is up to members to decide when they want to come.
