A representative from PA Career Link will be at our library on Monday, January 26, 1-3PM. He can provide resources and help for job hunters.

Are you a writer, or aspiring writer? Join our writers' group, Pen & Prose! Whether you write short stories, essays, poetry, or are trying to write the Great American Novel, get constructive feedback on your work in a safe, friendly environment. New to the group? Bring a sample of your writing, if you have one to share, for the group to discuss at the first meeting you attend. (No more than ten pages double-spaced, please!) We typically meet the 2nd Thursday of the month at 5PM.

Do you love LEGOs? Do you enjoy creating things with those popular little blocks? If you are an elementary-age youth (grades K-5) who likes to build with LEGOs, this is the club for you! Join us on any Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. for a session of LEGO construction!

Do you enjoy looking through old photos, sharing memories, and preserving local history? The Way We Were Club may be for you! The library now has thousands of photos and negatives, covering a multitude of subjects, we're received from Meyersdale's former New Republic newspaper. If you like technology, we can even show you how to scan photos for digital preservation! There is no set schedule for the club. It is up to members to decide when they want to come.

Come and see all the great things the library has to offer! Book at STEM kit giveaways will be offered. Get to know your library with a guided tour and a fun scavenger hunt. Enjoy stories and crafts!

Friends of the Meyersdale Public Library will host the 24th annual Death by Chocolate contest and auction at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 13 at the Amity United Church of Christ Fellowship Hall, 315 Center Street, Meyersdale.

Judging will be in three categories: cakes and pies, cookies and bars, and candy. Contest entries may be taken to the church hall between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Feb. 13. Cookies, bars and candy must have at least 12 on a plate for judging. Entries must have a chocolate component.

Judging will be based on appearance, intensity of chocolate and taste. Cash prizes will be awarded. The best in show receives an additional prize. Judging begins at 5:30 p.m. and is open to the public. The auction follows the judging.

Baked goods, including non-chocolate items, that are being submitted for the bake sale and not for judging may be taken to the Meyersdale Public Library, 210 Center St., Meyersdale, from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Feb. 12 or from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 13. The baked goods will be on sale Friday and Saturday until sold out. Please use containers that don't have to be returned.

Preschool Story Hour happens on Fridays at 10AM. Join Miss Debby for stories, songs, games, crafts, and fun learning on Fridays at 10AM. (No story hour Dec. 26)
Children must be accompanied by an adult.
