Once again, the Friends of the Library group is partnering with JVS Environmental for an electronics recycling event on Saturday, June 8, 2024, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Meyersdale Area Elementary School parking lot. This year, JVS will NOT accept small appliances (coffee makers, toasters, etc.), personal care items (curling irons, hair dryers, etc.), or vacuum cleaners. There is a $2 charge for fluorescent bulb recycling, $25 for refrigerators, freezers, dehumidifiers, and air conditioners. There is a FIFTY DOLLAR charge to recycle old televisions that have BROKEN GLASS.

Meyersdale is 150 years old this year, and local residents have been meeting at the library to plan celebratory events. All are welcome to join the conversation!

Do you love LEGOs? Do you enjoy creating things with those popular little blocks? If you are an elementary-age youth (grades K-5) who likes to build with LEGOs, this is the club for you! Join us any Wednesdays at 4:30 p.m. for a session of LEGO construction!

Join Miss Debby on Friday mornings at 10 am
for our fun Preschool Story Hour!
There are stories, crafts, games, and learning fun.
Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Join us on Thursday, May 16 at 7 PM for our discussion of "In Time: The Killing of Polly Paul" by Paul Petrunak, Jr. The book tells the story of a murder that took place in Cambria County, PA shortly after the US Civil War. While some dialog has been manufactured so that it reads as a novel, the facts of the case have been researched, and it is a true crime.

Do you enjoy looking through old photos, sharing memories, and preserving local history? The Way We Were Club may be for you! The library now has thousands of photos and negatives, covering a multitude of subjects, we're received from Meyersdale's former New Republic newspaper. If you like technology, we can even show you how to scan photos for digital preservation! There is no set schedule for the club. It is up to members to decide when they want to come.

Build fun! Join our new Magna-Tile club and create colorful, shiny buildings and other objects. Join the fun on Thursdays at 4:30 PM.
