Changes in the Landscape

We're excited about some major changes in our property's landscape -- the work that has been done to beautify our property, spearheaded by Dr. Roger Hanson of Meyersdale Chiropractic.
It started on the 4th of July weekend. Dr. Hanson and his sons, Nick and Tyler Hanson, did an amazing job clearing away the weeds which had gotten totally out of hand, and trimming overgrown shrubbery. That alone was a tremendous improvement, and I was very thankful. But he didn't stop there! Dr. Hanson recruited help, and a diseased tree was removed. Some shrubs were moved, some shrubs were removed, and new plantings were added. Thank you to all involved, including Perry Yoder, Wes Harvey, and Harold Holladia.
That initial weekend when the weeds were pulled, Jim Rubright of Cook's Lawn Care contacted me and offered to supply mulch. When the time came to add the mulch, Cook's Lawn Care supplied the lovely mulch that goes so well with our building.

Another thank-you goes to Pam Walukas, who also helped. You won't see the full results of her handiwork -- planting bulbs -- until flowers bloom next spring and summer, making our property colorful.

We are much less delighted with changes in the book distribution landscape. Our primary book vendor, Baker & Taylor, is going out of business, and all our orders with them were abruptly cancelled. They were the largest library vendor in the world, and the remaining vendors are struggling to fill the gap left by their departure from the market. We have contracted with a new library book vending service, but they are swamped and struggling to fill orders in a timely manner while they recruit and train additional staffing to handle the massively increased workload.
As a result, our library is experiencing delays in receiving new books, as are libraries throughout the country. We ask that you please be patient! Sooner or later, the backlog of orders will be filled.
